EMDR trained trauma Therapist in Fresno, CA

“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.”

-Peter Levine

Trauma Therapist for women and young Adults

Do you find yourself repeatedly learning the same lessons? Despite immersing yourself in self-help books, you continue to navigate cycles of self-doubt, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. You’ve noticed that, despite your best efforts, you are living out the same patterns as your family, struggling to break free. You yearn to love yourself but feel guilty and uncertain about where to begin.

If this is you, I see you. As a refugee, first generation Hmong-American, this was my healing journey. Rediscovering all of who you are and who you are capable of requires acknowledging all the different parts of us, the pain and the beauty.

Hi, My name is Lor Shoua Lee.

Lor Shoua Lee, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor #15990 in California, Supervised by Ah Hyun Lee, LCSW#105879

I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor  (#15990) located in Fresno, CA. I am currently under the supervision of Ah Hyun Lee, Licensed Clinical Social Worker #105879.

I am an EMDR trained therapist and offer telehealth visits for individuals in California.

As a trauma-focused therapist, I specialize in fostering secure, trusting relationships with my clients, creating a safe environment where they can begin to explore and address the experiences that have left them feeling stuck.

Drawing from my personal journey as a refugee and first-generation Hmong American, I deeply understand the challenges of embracing cultural heritage while liberating oneself from unhelpful generational patterns. Additionally, as an EMDR-trained clinician, I employ a polyvagal approach that prioritizes nervous system regulation, ensuring my clients receive the tailored support they need to progress comfortably and effectively. My commitment extends to supporting the development and wellness of neurodivergent clients, utilizing my trauma training to foster self awareness, autonomy, and self-empowerment.

Shoua’s treatment approaches in individual therapy for women and young adults

Trauma manifests and impacts individuals in a multitude of ways. Perhaps you haven’t been grappling with recurring patterns, but a significant event has profoundly impacted you, tilting your life off its axis. You are not defined by what has happened to you. Trauma-focused therapy can help you reclaim control and rise from the ashes.

The foundation of my therapeutic practice is deeply client-centered. Every treatment plan, which serves as your personal map to healing, is thoughtfully tailored to meet your unique needs and developmental stage. I employ various therapeutic approaches as tools to help us navigate the barriers and challenges to your wellness. You lead the way on this journey, and I will walk beside you until you are ready to continue on your own.

Individual Psychotherapist for Women and Young Adults

I love supporting fellow women, mothers, and young adults who may be depressed and somatically experiencing a lot of stress. My approach will be very much healing for individuals who have relational trauma from childhood as well.

EMDR Trained Therapist for Trauma Therapy

“What is EMDR Therapy? How Do I Know If It’s Right for Me?”

EMDR Therapy is structured and trauma-focused in an expedited process with lasting results. It encourages you to attune and pay attention to all aspects of your memories and your reactions in the present moment. All aspects refer to images, physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. You get to listen to and care for your inner child. Its process of healing also asks you to be creative in your unique way.

As an EMDR Trained Therapist, I can help you process single traumatic incidents, such as PTSD or adjustment issues. This means if you have experienced an accident or an experience that you continue to feel stuck about, I can help you feel “unstuck” and move forward in your life.

A little more personal about me:

Being a therapist is only a part of who I am! I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and took refuge in Fresno, California when I was 3 years old. I am married to the love of my life, I am a mother, a sister, and a daughter. My typical day consists of driving my kids around and showering myself the care I need to be my best self. I firmly believe that the care I provide for others is only as effective as the care I extend to myself. Consequently, I prioritize a healthy diet and maintain an active lifestyle through yoga and weight training. I find rest and restoration in immersing myself in a captivating fiction book and meditating. I look forward to sharing a space together.
