Asian American Trauma Therapist

You keep going, even when you’re exhausted.

On the outside, you seem capable and accomplished, but you feel depleted within.

Your mind rarely slows down.

You replay conversations, question your decisions, and feel like no matter how hard you try, it’s never enough.

You may have spent much of your life trying not to disappoint others while losing touch with your own needs.

Maybe you reached out for therapy after realizing that pushing through was no longer working.

Part of you knows something needs to change, and you want a space where you no longer have to hold everything together alone.

Hi, My name is Yingzhi “Angie”.

Yingzhi Yang, AMFT #157307, Supervised by Ah Hyun Lee, LCSW

Counseling in Mandarin Chinese and English

I help driven individuals learn how to slow down, trust themselves, and feel more connected in their relationships.

My clients often notice changes that go beyond anxiety relief. Over time, they begin setting healthier boundaries, and relating to themselves with greater compassion instead of constant self-criticism.

Therapy with me is not about forcing positivity or “fixing” you. It’s about helping you understand the deeper patterns shaped by past experiences so you no longer have to live in survival mode.

I’m an EMDR-trained therapist and incorporate IFS therapy in my work to address complex trauma, including

attachment wounds, bullying, chronic illness, acculturation stress, dislocation trauma, sexual trauma, and betrayal trauma.

I am passionate about supporting Asian Americans and immigrants, navigating the impact of culture, identity, family expectations, and the search for belonging.

My work centers on memory processing and nervous system–based care, helping clients move beyond insight alone toward deeper emotional healing and lasting change. My approach is trauma-informed, holistic, and integrative, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and interpersonal neurobiology. I believe therapy should feel collaborative and deeply human, a space where you can begin healing at your own pace.

Angie’s treatment approaches in therapy

In my own life, I find tranquility and restoration through reading novels, practicing yoga, and spending quality time with my fur baby. These moments help me stay present, curious, and connected to both mind and body.

EMDR Trained Therapist for Trauma Therapy

“What is EMDR Therapy? How Do I Know If It’s Right for Me?”

EMDR Therapy is structured and trauma-focused in an expedited process with lasting results. It encourages you to attune and pay attention to all aspects of your memories and your reactions in the present moment. All aspects refer to images, physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. You get to listen to and care for your inner child. Its process of healing also asks you to be creative in your unique way.

As an EMDR Trained Therapist, I can help you process single traumatic incidents, such as PTSD or adjustment issues. This means if you have experienced an accident or an experience that you continue to feel stuck about, I can help you feel “unstuck” and move forward in your life.
