How we can help

We have a team of trauma therapists who practice attachment-based and relational trauma therapy. We can help individuals attend to their relevant memories, emotions, physical sensations, thoughts, and pain while being there as a safeguard in the therapeutic space. It is not just a reflection that you do in talk therapy. You can really feel it in your body and take yourself back to where it started and become empathetic toward yourself. You do not have to deal with your pain alone. You will have your therapist as a guide through the challenges to overcome your trauma. You will experience a beautiful process in the transformation of your traumatic memories into a compassionate perspective.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trauma Counseling in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Regular talk therapy may get you started in opening in therapy. However, it may quickly turn into venting about your week with a repeated pattern of issues that never seem to go away. EMDR Therapy, whether in person or online, offers a trauma-focused approach to address the issues directly. It has been heavily researched and proven highly effective for complex trauma.

  • Talk therapy cannot be enough to resolve trauma. Yes, the therapeutic relationship, the expression of emotions, and reflections are important, which I base the foundation on in therapy. However, trauma therapy or trauma focused therapy deepens with a somatic approach and an imagery exercise (+ mind and body connection) to address memories, core beliefs or narratives, and the nervous system. EMDR Therapy is an example of trauma therapy.

  • The main idea of EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is that when your emotional brain is activated through a specific type of stimulation while you focus on the traumatic memory, the experience of the memory can change in a way that brings positive outcomes, such as relief of symptoms, improved sense of self, better relationships with others, and daily life.
